Soo I'm Learning How to Salsa

Dear Mom & Dad,

Yanina & I had our first Salsa lesson tonight. I learned the basic steps while she progressed onto other fancy movements because she's been out enough that she's picked up on these things. Pretty sure we're going to continue these for the next couple of weeks until she leaves. I would say I plan on taking a loong much needed shower now but none of Antigua has had running water all day. We can't wash our hands (gracias a Dios for hand sanitizer), flush the toilet, or shower. Didn't prepare for that one lol. Apparently there is a problem with the pipes and Claudia said she doesn't know when it will come back. She guessed tomorrow morning so cross your fingers. Right now Meme is sitting downstairs with an umbrella where there is no roof trying to catch the rain water in a bucket so he can use it to clean the toilet haha.

So Far in Angtiua I've Learned...

1. Cobblestone is not only romantic, it's dangerous. Lethal, even, for people as clumsy as me.
2. Don't throw the toilet paper in the toilet. That is what the mini garbage can NEXT to the toilet is for.
3. Motorcycles and mopeds are everywhere. It's normal to see both women & men driving. It's also common to see two women, two men, three men, or even a family of five on the same bike.
4. When they say that every visitor who's here for an extended period of time will get sick at least once here...they aren't kidding.
5. When all of the running water in Antigua stops working (this includes showers, faucets, and toilets) don't worry- it will come back...eventually.
6. No matter how sunny it is when you leave your house in the morning, take an umbrella. You will need it!
7. Budget your money before you start spending. "Omg this is so cheap!" is a deceiving thought, as you can only purchase so many cheap things before you're mortified by the small number that is, unfortunately, your account balance.
8. At home we learn to walk across the street. No ha that does not apply here. Run for your life!
9. You can always fit more people on a bus. It's quite amusing, actually, as long as you're not suffering from any butt-to-face action.
10. Kids can be adorable and disgusting at the same time with their big smiles, runny noses, and dirty germy hands that want to touch everything.
11. When you're learning how to dance and you're out trying to apply what you know, don't worry about not knowing enough. Just know you'll have fun anyways.
12. There is no cool way to recover from tripping over cobblestone.
